For example, if a ream of paper weighs 20 pounds, it means that each sheet in the ream weighs 0.04 pounds (20 lb ÷ 500 sheets).

Grams per Square Meter (g/m² or GSM): This is the standard unit of measurement used internationally. It represents the weight of one square meter of paper in grams. Higher GSM values indicate thicker and heavier paper, while lower GSM values indicate thinner and lighter paper.
